JOB SUMMARY
Technical Program Manager- Mechanical Engineer for Data Center Construction to support data center construction activities and development of new projects for a large technology client in Sunnyvale, CA,

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the development of next generation mechanical system products
Contribute to new technology insertions through collaboration with the core engineering teams during development. Create system level concept and schematics designs, and carry through to detailed designs
Provide and prepare all types of documents including: statement of work, engineering reports, design documents, total cost of ownership analysis, drawing markup, budget, schedule, and commissioning program documents
Coordinate documentation of mechanical design, end to end scope, for data center builds
Collaborate with the design, construction, facilities, and environmental health and safety teams to develop company proprietary data center (DC) mechanical designs and products
Work with internal stakeholders on system requirements and translate requirements into design drawings for distribution to external consultants
Coordinate documentation of all design disciplines, end to end scope, for data center builds
Collaborate with the design, construction, facilities, and environmental health and safety teams to develop company proprietary data center (DC) designs and products
Implement automation tools to reduce the production time internally and externally
Reviewing in-progress drawings & Autodesk Revit models to ensure documentation is at an appropriate level of detail at each design milestone, identify coordination issues, and escalate to our consultants to prioritize their focus on critical items affecting schedule to close out during design meetings
Proactively escalate and communicate issues or challenges to the appropriate teams, develop solutions, and implement with appropriate approvals
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides formal supervision to individual employees within single functional or operational area. Approves subordinate's recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. Effectively recommends same for direct reports to next level management for review and approval. Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.
Manages 3rd party project delivery resources/team (typically larger more experienced team). Responsible for identifying training needs, tracking performance, coaching, and motivating team members.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

8+ years of experience focused on mechanical design and construction management experience
BS Mechanical Engineering
Experience with AutoCAD and Revit or equivalent
Familiarity and experience in working with cross discipline teams: architecture, civil, electrical, plumbing, structural, and telecom
General knowledge of design practices coordinated with architectural, civil, electrical, fire-life safety, mechanical, plumbing, site-planning, and structural
Practical knowledge of critical infrastructure
Ability to structure and solve complex, ambiguous problems
Excellent project management, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Experience developing requests for proposal (RFPs), scheduling projects, cost engineering, reporting project status and costs, and consulting with contractors and vendors
Experience working with data center equipment/environments (e.g., switchgear, generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, controls, security monitoring systems, fire safety systems)
Experience managing vendor relationships
Familiarity with Google Drive and all related products (sheets, docs, slides)
Knowledge of large-scale facility electrical and mechanical systems
Experience in the bidding, designing, operating, and commissioning of electrical distribution systems
Understanding of startup/commissioning processes and standard practices in the design and construction industry
Excellent requirement gathering, resource organization, task prioritization, scheduling, and goal attainment skills
Knowledge of BIM360 a plus
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
PMP (US and/or Canada) and LEED AP preferred.
Professional Engineer Preferred.
