Production Supervisor – Machine Shop (Aerospace)
Location: Southeast Ventura County, CA
Shift: 1st Shift – 6:00 AM Start
Salary: $100,000 – $110,000 + 10% Annual Bonus
We are seeking an experienced Machine Shop Production Supervisor with strong CNC machining expertise and aerospace industry experience. This role oversees daily machining operations, leads machinists and operators, and drives performance across safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
The ideal candidate understands the ins and outs of a machine shop and brings both hands-on machining knowledge and proven leadership experience.
Key Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree required

10+ years machining experience (CNC and/or manual machining with complex components)

3–5+ years supervisory experience in a machine shop environment

Aerospace manufacturing experience required

Strong understanding of CNC operations, setups, tooling, and machining processes
Technical Qualifications

CNC machining operations, setups, and troubleshooting
-
Blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation
-
Cutting tools, feeds & speeds, and workholding
-
CAD/CAM experience (Mastercam or similar)

Metrology tools (CMM, micrometers, indicators, height gauges)
-
ERP systems (SAP preferred) and production reporting
-
SPC and statistical process monitoring
Quality & Continuous Improvement

Lean manufacturing tools (5S, Standard Work, Visual Management, Kaizen, SMED)
-
Root cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone, PDCA)
-
Aerospace quality systems including AS9100, PPAP/APQP, ITAR
Leadership Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and develop machinists and operators
-
Plan and prioritize production schedules and workflows
-
Drive accountability, performance, and continuous improvement
-
Manage staffing, training, and performance reviews

Communicate effectively across engineering, quality, and supply chain teams
Operational Responsibilities

Oversee daily CNC and manual machining operations
-
Assign work orders to meet on-time delivery and productivity targets
-
Monitor production metrics (OEE, scrap, rework, cycle time, first-pass yield)

Maintain process control including setups, tooling, and programs
-
Coordinate preventive maintenance and minimize downtime
-
Manage WIP, tooling, raw materials, and consumables
-
Support cost reduction and process improvements

NIMS Machining Certification
