Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Operations Manager for a manufacturer and distributer of ready-to-eat/short-shelf-life food products focused in the North East states. The company has shown steady growth to $22 million sales, including last year. Of the 150 products, 60 are typically made each day, consisting of all food allergens - 90% of them are shipped within 24 hours.
Responsible for providing leadership and direction to the plant in all areas including administration, production, processing, packaging, safety, and environmental. Work closely with QA, maintenance, warehousing, and purchasing. Direct the overall activities of the manufacturing facilities of the plant to ensure customer orders are received, scheduled, produced and shipped at the lowest possible cost to meet the customers’ requirements while maintaining corporate established quality standards. Build and manage a high-performance team of 20 employees. Also manage 2 direct reports (Production Supervisors). The challenge is to improve plant processes to achieve higher productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness.

Background Required:
  • Plant management of food from receiving to shipping (5 years)
  • Plant management of chilled food (34°F-38°F)
  • Labor management and leadership
  • Planning, implementation, and control of production schedules to product specification
  • Personnel, capital, inventory, and operating budget management
  • Regulatory laws and responsibilities relative to food processing
  • Yield and waste management
  • Monitoring of allergen separation
  • Training and mentoring talent for current and future needs
  • Ability to simplify processes and create efficiencies.
  • Implemented plant safety programs in accordance with good manufacturing practices (GMP).
  • Established systems, standard operating procedures, and metrics (KPIs)
  • Computer literate: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook
  • Location: Eastern Pennsylvania – preference given to local candidates
