Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Haley has an exciting opportunity for a Production Controller. The successful incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the execution of the production plan and is the main liaison between operations and planning. The Production Controller will also ensure that the daily manufacturing operations are scheduled to achieve the planned work order completion date.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a balanced Capacity Resource Plan through coordination with Operations personnel and the Master Scheduler/Master Planner.
  • Ensure that the daily manufacturing operations are scheduled to achieve the planned work order completion date. Track the execution of the schedule and advise manufacturing management when the schedule is at risk.
  • Work with production Supervisors/Managers to develop & implement contingency plans when necessary to meet planned work order completion dates.
  • Communicate irresolvable delays on shop orders to the management team, Master Planner and Master Scheduler for scheduled due date adjustment.
  • Analyze actual performance to planned cycle times and maintain planned process and queue times within the ERP system to ensure accuracy of system planning parameters (process times, queue times, operation sequencing, etc.).
  • Track and report on-time metrics for each work center of responsibility, including sub-contract resources (SCA).
  • Liaise with various departments to ensure timely execution of new product (NPI) launches in parallel with current production plan.
  • Coordinate externally subcontracted services and operations as necessary to meet planned work order completion dates (i.e. hipping, machining, de-gating, x-ray inspection).
  • Support continuous improvement of operational processes and support activities as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor / Manager.

Position Requirements

  • 5 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • APICS (CPIM) certification considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with ERP/MPR systems and production control activities
  • A combination of APICS training materials and experience may substitute CPIM certification.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS EXCEL (intermediate / advanced).
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing execution systems (MES) will be considered an asset.
