Product Development Engineer

This position is responsible for guiding the execution of complex engineering systems through all stages of development including concept development, engineering development, and post- development implementation which will allow The Company to consistently produce competitive, well-integrated and well-engineered products.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new yacht models, custom options, product upgrades and manufacturing processes in a team environment.

  • Generate design specifications and cost estimates.

  • Define requirements and component specifications for composite parts, marine systems and

    electronics.

  • Generate engineering drawings and Bills of Material for new designs and approve prints for

    release to the shop floor.

  • Monitors fabrication and installation to ensure products and systems conform to

    engineering design intent.

  • Maintains awareness of applicable emerging technologies and manages the integration of innovative concepts into products.

  • Evaluates performance of products during sea trials.

  • Test, validate, and oversee integration of externally supplied systems and materials.

  • Ensure and/or acquire component and system compliance with industry standards (ABYC

    and ISO).

  • Review and approve owners' manuals.

  • Conduct FEA, FMEA and DFM analyses, as required.

  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.


Qualifications


  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering

  • Minimum five (5) years experience in complex system design

  • Marine industry experience preferred.

  • Composites systems experience

  • Expertise in analyzing, processing and presenting data for problem solving and management review.

  • MRP/ERP systems experience, preferably in small/mid-size company environment

  • Quick learner, ability to adapt to changing work environment, ability to handle multiple priorities, detail oriented, positive attitude; ability to work under pressure with minimal

    direction or supervision

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of the organization .

  • CAD experience is essential: Rhino, Solid Edge and AutoCAD.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word and Excel.
