Summary:

The Insurance Producer - Trucking is responsible for generating new business and managing existing accounts within the trucking and transportation industry. This role requires a strong understanding of the unique insurance needs of trucking companies, owner-operators, and related businesses. The Producer will actively prospect for new clients, develop tailored insurance solutions, and provide exceptional customer service to build long-term relationships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prospecting and Lead Generation: Identify and pursue potential clients through various methods, including cold calling, networking, referrals, online marketing, and industry events.
  • Needs Assessment: Analyze the insurance requirements of trucking companies and owner-operators, considering their specific operations, cargo, territory, and risk profile.
  • Solution Development: Develop and present customized insurance proposals that address clients' needs and offer competitive pricing. This includes working with various insurance carriers to find the best fit.
  • Sales and Closing: Effectively close deals and secure new business, meeting or exceeding established sales targets.
  • Account Management: Manage and service existing client accounts, including policy renewals, endorsements, and handling inquiries.
  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, insurance carriers, and other industry professionals.
  • Policy Placement: Work with insurance carriers to place coverage and ensure accurate policy documentation.
  • Claims Assistance: Assist clients with the claims process, including reporting claims and providing necessary documentation.
  • Market Knowledge: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, insurance products, and regulatory changes within the trucking and transportation sector.
  • CRM Management: Maintain accurate records of client interactions and sales activities using a CRM system.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all applicable insurance regulations and company policies.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 3 years of experience in insurance sales, preferably with a focus on trucking or transportation insurance. Entry-level candidates with a strong sales aptitude and willingness to learn will also be considered.
  • Licensing: Valid Property & Casualty insurance license required.
  • Skills:
      • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
      • Strong sales and negotiation skills.
      • Knowledge of trucking and transportation industry and related insurance products (e.g., motor truck cargo, liability, physical damage).
      • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
      • Proficient in using CRM software and other sales tools.
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
