Our client in the Banking and Finance Sector is seeking to hire a Procurement Officer for their Couva office.

Job Purpose:

The Procurement Officer ensures that all procurement and purchasing of the organization are aligned with business strategy by directing all procurement activities, developing and implementing the procurement strategy and participating in all purchasing processes, in accordance with procurement policies and best practice.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with executing departments to ensure clarity on and compliance with Procurement Policy and Procedures.
  • Source and select suppliers and manage the Supplier relationship to obtain the best value for money for the organization.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders, agreements and contracts.
  • Employ systems for follow up of purchase orders and co-ordinate delivery of materials to various locations of the organization, ensuring compliance with orders.
  • Minimise working capital requirement for operating the business by maintaining optimal procurement cycle for inventory items, managing storage where possible and negotiating related payment terms with suppliers.
  • Prepare Tender Packages, Requests for Proposal/Quote, Expressions of Interest and Pre-Qualification Documentation and other procurement documentation for approval and dispatch.
  • Manage tendering process from the Purchase Requisition to the evaluation and award of Tender.
  • Prepare reports for Evaluation Committee.
  • Monitor contracts throughout the procurement cycle, ensuring compliance with terms.
  • Liaise with Accounts Payable to ensure settlement of invoices in accordance with terms, after all checks and balances have been completed.
  • Act as liaison with suppliers on behalf of the organization, resolving queries, etc., ensuring mutual fairness/equity and the maintenance of the desired image of the organization.
  • Maintain database of pre-qualified vendors, ensuring all vendors are certified in the specific areas of engagement
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager or his/her designate.
  • Any other duties or special projects based on the objectives of the Society.

    Education and Experience:

    • Training in Procurement/Purchasing, as evidenced by membership in the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply or other relevant professional body.
    • Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (C.I.P.S.) Level 4 or higher will be an asset.
    • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a similar position.
    • Knowledge of Credit Union and/or financial services sector.
    • A suitable combination of qualifications and experience
