A major global steel manufacturer has an opening for a Process Manager Operations in their Steel Producing Division. The position will have overall responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the Steel producing facility.
The Process Manager - Operations provides the tools and other resources necessary to his or her direct salaried reports, including the entire crew that they supervise to ensure the safe, smooth and efficient operation of the facility.
The position is responsible for managing their crew at SPO, while facilitating a safe and productive work environment at the BOF, LMF, & Caster. He or she shall be comfortable in a union atmosphere and able to prioritize and direct union personnel. The Process Manager – Operations shall be self-directed, customer focused, flexible and willing to work in a team environment, with a most critical focus on providing the tools, training, and support for a safe work environment. He or she shall be responsible for directing some maintenance activities to support a reliable operation. Ensuring product quality is an essential requirement of this job. Additional responsibilities include trouble shooting, supporting continuous improvement activities, working with outside contractors/vendors, and communicating key performance measures to his/her Supervisor. This position strives to improve reliability across Steel Producing in an effort to decrease cost, improve production, and help meet customer needs. This job also includes reporting to Management the progress and performance of the operation during their shift and also administers discipline if required.
The position supervises hourly, and salaried employees and also has indirect supervisory responsibilities over other salaried employees as needed to ensure a safe, efficient operation.
High School Diploma or GED and three (3) years of operations supervisory experience in an industrial environment, preferably in a union facility
Familiar with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and seven (7) years of experience in an industrial environment, preferably managing a Steelmaking operations and/maintenance crew, with five (5) years in a supervisory role in operations
