We are seeking an experienced Process Engineering Technology Manager to join our Spartanburg, SC location. This pivotal role is responsible for spearheading technology solutions for our global synthetic spinning processes. The ideal candidate will coordinate projects across Operations and Product Development teams to optimize and implement process efficiency, enhance product quality, and reduce the costs associated with poor quality. This is a dynamic position that spans the start of raw material acceptance to the final product packaging, offering an opportunity to lead a cross-functional global team in a highly collaborative environment.
Salary: $110,000 to $150,000 per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the Process Technology team to align project prioritization, technical resources, and budget control with business goals in collaboration with commercial, manufacturing, and product technology teams.
- Perform biannual performance appraisals for direct reports, providing necessary coaching and counseling to enhance performance.
- Optimize spunbond processes through data-driven approaches involving new equipment design, design modifications, and standard operating procedures to minimize downtime and capital investment while improving product yield.
- Conduct comprehensive plant trials to assess new and optimized settings and oversee all corresponding logistics from budget control to trial operation and data collection.
- Commercialize new control approaches or process equipment following successful trials and oversee documentation and reporting on projects.
- Maintain high safety standards in plant operations, complying with all safety protocols.
- Identify and implement best practices in forming, drying, curing, and winding technologies across global plants.
- Provide troubleshooting support to manufacturing issues related to spunbond and offer technical support to plant operations.
- Collaborate with the product technology department to ensure process and product projects enhance product quality.
- Support new product development by establishing process settings that meet the desired product performance and quality standards.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Manufacturing, or Material Science Engineering.
- At least 10 years of experience in engineering manufacturing management.
- Work experience in the Spunbond, Spunlace, Carding industry, or similar roles in the synthetic industry or other complex manufacturing industries.
- Demonstrated expertise in the field of specialization with the ability to train, develop, and motivate employees.
- Proven ability to manage department budgets and execute technology project management and process optimization initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with global synthetic nonwovens or polymer operations.
- Hands-on experience with spunbond technology and leading complex technical projects.
- Supervisory experience, ideally managing a team of process engineers.
