We are seeking an experienced and driven Jr. Process Engineer/Process Engineer to lead production efficiency and process improvement initiatives across our lime production facilities in Southern US. This full-time role is ideal for a degreed engineer with a strong background in the lime or cement industry, a deep understanding of industrial process systems, and the ability to manage capital projects from concept to completion.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on problem solver, capable of collaborating with site and corporate leadership while driving measurable improvements in productivity, reliability, and cost efficiency. This position requires up to 50% travel to plant locations.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Optimization & Project Leadership:
- Identify, plan, and lead process improvement initiatives across three lime production facilities.
- Engineer solutions that enhance plant throughput, reduce downtime, improve product quality, and increase energy efficiency.
- Develop ROI-focused business cases to support process improvement and capital expenditure proposals.
Capital Projects:
- Scope, design, and manage capital projects from initial concept through implementation and startup.
- Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to specify, procure, and install process equipment.
- Participate in Capital Project Budgeting and Review meetings with company leadership.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Communicate effectively with plant and corporate leadership through presentations, written reports, daily updates, and scheduled meetings.
- Serve as a liaison between technical teams and operational management to align engineering activities with production goals.
- Coordinate and lead project planning and scheduling meetings to ensure alignment and progress across departments.
Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis:
- Lead and participate in root-cause failure analysis for critical process equipment issues.
- Provide engineering recommendations and decision-making support to plant teams to ensure long-term resolution of recurring equipment or process problems.
Working Conditions:
- Work split between office, industrial plant environments, and travel to remote locations.
- Exposure to industrial hazards including high temperatures, rotating equipment, dust, and loud noise during plant site visits.
- Must be comfortable wearing appropriate PPE and working in lime or cement production facilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering required
- 10–15 years of experience in lime or cement process engineering
- Proven track record managing capital improvement projects in industrial production settings
- Deep understanding of process equipment such as kilns, crushers, slakers, conveyors, and dust collection systems
- Strong project management, budgeting, and vendor coordination experience
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Proficient in process modeling and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, AutoCAD, PI systems, etc.)
