Process Engineer
General Overview of the Position:
The Process Engineer works directly with the Plant Manager and Senior Project Manager to oversee new technology and process technology at the plant. They are to assist in meeting continued efficiency improvements, de-carbonization of the ethanol and overall profitability goals.
Specific Job Duties:
· Optimize the manufacturing process by minimizing waste, increasing capacity and ensuring finish product quality.
· Monitoring and reviewing data to ensure process optimization in all phases of the operations.
· Staying up to date with new and emerging technology and processes improvement opportunities.
· Support the development of a detailed project plan for capital investments and track the progress to plan.
· Provide problem solutions through good troubleshooting techniques, while training and coaching the production operators and mechanics.
· Provide support and data to assisting establishing the capital and operating budgets and timelines.
General Job Duties:
· Work with the Safety Director to ensure compliance with safety, environmental and health policies and procedures.
· Lead by example the correct behaviors when working with hazardous materials.
· Responsible for providing support to the Senior Project Manager the design, planning and implementing of any new projects or process changes.
· Demonstrate people skills by communicating effectively with board members, shareholders, vendors, contractors, community, visitors and members of the Adkins Energy and Pearl City Coop team.
· Willing to travel when needed.
Education and Experience Requirements:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering required. MBA or equal related work experience preferred. Minimum of 5 years of work-related experience in an Ethanol plant preferred. Certificate for the Fundamentals of Engineering and the Professional Engineering.
Knowledge and Skills:
· Ability to apply chemical principles in new and creative ways.
· Expert knowledge of chemical and biochemical processes.
· Understand the proper procedures of the safe handling of all chemicals, including hazardous materials.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Superior math skills, including physical and chemical math equations and theories.
· Good interpersonal and communication skills.
· Ability to work effectively as a team with others.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Work is generally performed both in an office and outdoor environment, with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Frequent sitting, reaching, walking, standing, lifting, stooping or carrying of equipment and materials may be required.
