- Record machines efficiency during the shift, correct any off-cycle condition
- Use SPC to monitor injection molding process and part quality.
- Monitor process stability and process change documentation.
- Using SMED, coordinate with support departments and QA any mold change start-up
- Update set-up sheets at every machine after every mold change/start-up
- Develop start-up and color change procedures to minimize down time and scrap
- Conduct MAP (mold approval process) on new and existing molds
- Design and implement systems to collect and analyze KPI data.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts.
- Participate in TPM activities.
- Assist in driving standardized best-practices throughout the plant.
- Support/train molding technicians to troubleshoot part quality issue
- Respond to Quality Alert Notifications with the root cause and corrective action.
- Issue work orders and coordinate with molding tech and support departments any
intervention for diagnostic, as well as on time completion and machine start-up.
- Coordinate with tool room any tool repairs/changes to maintain part quality & cycle time
- Initiate, recommend or provide solutions to correct/improve molding machines and
molds to avoid production of non-conforming parts and verify the implementation
of solutions.
- Own the process at every machine, first point of contact for support before maintenance is called
- Conduct shift change meetings with the incoming shift to communicate any process
changes or any abnormal conditions on the production machines.
- Follow-up on the shift report for proper communication from all shifts regarding
process modifications
- Review accuracy of Operations time sheet and input production data into ERP system.
Skills and Experience
- Good Excel and computer skills.
- Analytical approach to problem solving.
- Knowledge of TPM and Maintenance Planning programs.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies like 5S. Lean, Six Sigma etc.
- Minimum 5 years experience in injection molding process set-up and troubleshooting
- Ability to manage and coach production personnel
Education
Bachelor Degree in materials science/mechanical engineering or other technical discipline, or five years or more of experience.
