PURPOSE: The Shift Supervisor will provide leadership to their hourly crews and advocate all mill safety policies and procedures at this integrated paper and tissue making operation in the Southeast. Strong career developmental opportunities, great location and relocation packages.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide a very high level of coordination, cooperation, and communication among team and the various operations managers.
Responsibility for safe and effective shift-to-shift management, focused on consistent operation of the mill and managing operational activities.
Provide guidance to strengthen the skill set of the overall team.
Accountability for mill wide operations, maintenance, and employees on shift.
Bring all disciplinary issues to Operations Management and HR to work together to administer discipline as needed, and provide appropriate documentation.
Participate and deliver individual performance appraisal results to the Finished Products Management Team, and work with the team to deliver performance feedback to employees.
Develop and guide implementation of individual Performance Improvement Plans.
Set team performance goals, and work with the team to meet or exceed those goals using appropriate KPIs and performance measurements. Ensure the accuracy of time and attendance input.
Maintain the integrity of training on shift (new skills, basic training, and performance).
Proactively promote two-way communication by ensuring that employees are current on business issues, goals, objectives, etc., and communicate employee issues/needs outside the shift as appropriate.
Coach employees to understand and comply with the mill Quality System.
Ensure the mill operates within the limits of all environmental operating permits.
Ensure compliance with the standards of ISO 14001.
Production Coordination Manage each area’s productivity level to ensure we meet or exceed budgeted production goals.
Strive for a goal of zero injuries.
Provide leadership to hourly crews and advocate all mill safety policies and procedures.

B.S. Paper Science, Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or related degree desired
3-5+ years Pulp and Paper industry experience
Must have manufacturing experience, specifically in the papermaking realm.
Must have demonstrated leadership experience.
Possess strong ability to facilitate the empowerment and development of highly engaged work teams.
Must have excellent communication, facilitation and organizational skills and experience.
Show Strong Interpersonal Skills To Support a Team-based Culture.
Process knowledge and experience in mill operations areas.
Previous leadership or shift supervisory responsibility, paper mill process experience, and/or shift work experience is a plus.
