We are seeking a qualified individual for a Process Controls Engineer to join our team. This role will be immediately engaged in the process design team and take an active role in site preparation (OSBL) for the construction of this process. Long term, this role will become the site process control expert and utilize their engineering skills to support the startup and continued operation of our facility. The ideal candidate will have experience at both both DCS and PLC control systems, and the ability to trouble shoot issues with those systems.

As the Process Control Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

    • Integrate into the team to execute best-in-class safety, process safety, and environmental performance in design, construction, startup, and continued operation of our facility
    • Through mentoring/direction of Senior Process Engineering staff, this individual will:
      • Develop into the process controls Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the FPF team. Provide engineering expertise for optimization and troubleshooting issues for all processes including catalytic reactions, distillation, heat transfer, purification, etc.
      • Continuous drive for safe and sustainable operation through implementation of monitoring and analytical tools.
      • Lead DCS, PLC, and instrumentation troubleshooting and optimization efforts utilizing internal and external resources
      • Develop and implement incremental improvements and/or new technologies to improve the safety, quality, cost, and environmental impact of the process.
      • Pursue innovation through process analysis and research of opportunities. Manage developing projects through the design, installation, and startup of these systems/modifications.
      • Actively engaged in all elements of Process Safety through Management of Change (MOC) processes, review/validate SOPs, P&IDs, and other process safety information (PSI) to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
      • Participate and develop leadership skills in Root Cause and Process Hazards Analyses and drive actions to completion.

Skills/Experience

  • Required:
    • S. degree in Chemical engineering or other applicable technical degree
    • 0 - 5 years industrial experience as control engineer in chemical, petroleum refining/petrochemical, or other closely related industry
    • Experience in operation and troubleshooting instrumentation and controls systems. Demonstrated experience with DCS and/or PLC systems is valuable
    • Familiarity with control loop tuning, data historians, and interface with PLCs.
    • Fundamental knowledge of process operations including reaction chemistry, distillation, heat transfer, and related process concepts
    • Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills including proficiency with both written and verbal technical communication
    • Ability to work in a cross-functional, agile work environment.
    • Able to support a 24x7 chemical processing plant through design, construction, commissioning, and startup.
