Prep Plant Superintendent

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee operations of coal processing plant, ensuring production goals are met efficiently and safely
  • Develop, lead, and supervise a team of employees, to maximize availability, ton per hour processing rate, and processing cost per ton.
  • Collaborate with other departments to plan and coordinate the various plants production schedules, to best match plant capabilities to customer requirements optimizing plant schedules.
  • Oversee the development, implementation and adherence to maintenance process and repair of plant equipment to ensure proper functioning and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and manage the budget for the plants, including expenses related to equipment maintenance, labor, and other operational costs.
  • Implement and monitor quality control measures to ensure that products meet customer contractual specifications.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensuring that all employees adhere to safety guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries
  • Ensure that the plant operates in compliance with environmental regulations and standards
  • Interact with other departments, executives, and stakeholders to provide updates on plant operations, address concerns, and contribute to strategic planning
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and increased efficiency within the plants
  • Develop yearly budgets for each of the plants that ensure optimal cost and performance.

Qualifications:

  • BS Degree with a strong emphasis on mechanical or electrical engineering preferred. Or a minimum of 6-years hands-on experience in key leadership role in a coal processing plant environment.
  • This position requires an understanding of the production operation of coal processing and its practices and procedures, as well as a high level of human relation’s skills to develop and motivate subordinates.
  • Must demonstrate core competencies of engagement in safe work behaviors, effective communications, listening, and organizational skills
  • Must be computer literate and a knowledge of lean manufacturing principles such as Six Sigma and WCM process is a plus.
  • Knowledge of MSHA rules and regulations required.
