The Opportunity

This is a rare chance to step into a high‑impact, relationship‑driven sales engineering role within a highly reputable mechanical design‑build organization. As a Preconstruction Manager, you directly influence the company’s ongoing growth by bringing in new work, strengthening long‑standing client partnerships, and shaping the early concepts that ultimately become major mechanical construction projects.

The organization is experiencing significant and sustained growth, with large projects filling the pipeline and new opportunities emerging across multiple market sectors. This role is not a backfill; it is a strategic expansion driven by increased demand. You will serve as the face of the company during early project development—leading conversations with clients, collaborating with internal engineering teams, and ensuring the company remains the preferred partner for complex, mission‑critical projects.

You will join a high‑trust culture where Preconstruction Managers have the autonomy to structure their day around client relationships, opportunity development, and long‑term strategic work. Unlike transactional sales environments, this is a long‑cycle, relationship‑driven role where preconstruction efforts can span months or even years. You are supported with the stability, resources, and technical depth needed to win and execute enduring client partnerships.

Your impact is immediate and meaningful:

  • You bring in negotiated design‑assist and design‑build opportunities.
  • You deepen relationships with general contractors, end users, and key decision‑makers.
  • You collaborate with engineering and estimating teams to craft accurate, value‑focused solutions.
  • You represent a company whose reputation is based on consistent, repeat work and client trust.

This opportunity is ideal for a technically minded sales engineer who thrives on collaboration, integrity, and long‑term client success.

The Company

This organization is a leading mechanical design/build/maintain contractor with decades of consistent growth and strong community reputation. It was founded by industry professionals who sought to build a better workplace culture—one rooted in quality, integrity, and long‑term client relationships. Many of the original employees have worked together for decades, creating a deeply experienced, cohesive, and supportive environment.

The company employs a large and talented workforce across Colorado and delivers complex mechanical solutions for healthcare, higher education, data centers, biotech/pharma, cleanrooms, industrial, commercial, and federal facilities. The firm is well positioned in market sectors known for resilience and consistent demand.

The culture is genuinely people‑centric, offering extensive professional development including in‑house technical training, paid apprenticeships, industry certifications, and soft‑skills programs. Employees are encouraged to challenge processes, propose improvements, and shape the future of the organization.

A particularly compelling differentiator: qualified individuals may eventually be invited to participate in company ownership—an opportunity that is uncommon in this industry and geography.

The Boss

The Preconstruction Manager reports to a senior leader who grew through the ranks of the Preconstruction team and now oversees the division. This leader is known for fostering a collaborative, high‑trust, non‑micromanaged environment.

You can expect:

  • Strong support and mentorship
  • Autonomy to structure your day around client and project needs
  • Encouragement to think creatively and continuously improve processes
  • A leadership style anchored in humility, professionalism, and trust

You will join a high‑performing team of technical sales engineers who value collaboration and maintain an excellent reputation in the market.
