The Role

This role centers on refining metal cutting tools to tight, high-quality specs — smoothing, sharpening, polishing, and shaping — with the independence to run your own machine and the chance to mentor others along the way.

Start times may shift earlier during busier stretches, and some overtime or weekend work should be expected as production needs require.

What You'll Do

  • Sharpen, polish, and shape cutting tools to a high-quality finish
  • Set up and run grinding equipment on your own, with minimal oversight
  • Build complete tools from solid carbide rod or high-speed steel stock
  • Check work against blueprints and fine-tune machine settings as needed
  • Swap wheels and tooling as jobs require
  • Keep output and quality on pace with production targets
  • Inspect tooling at each stage of the process
  • Handle routine equipment upkeep and keep your workstation organized
  • Flag any equipment downtime to your supervisor
  • Train teammates on setup procedures
  • Contribute ideas for new processes and help put them into practice
  • Look for better ways to solve recurring production issues
  • Follow 5S safety standards at all times

What You'll Bring

  • At least 3 years in a comparable grinding role
  • Solid grasp of grinding techniques, materials, and precision measurement tools
  • Comfort applying geometry and trigonometry on the job
  • Background setting up and operating tool and cutter grinders
  • Ability to read blueprints and shop documentation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience prioritizing and delegating work across a team
  • Able to work independently under deadline pressure
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Bonus: exposure to statistical process control or total quality management practices

Benefits & Perks

  • Health & Insurance: Medical, dental, vision, life & disability — effective 1st of the month after start date
  • Time Off: 15 PTO days + 12 paid holidays per year
  • Retirement: 401(k) with company match
  • Education: Tuition reimbursement after 6 months
