Pre-Construction Electrical Specialist

As a growing company, Our Client Company, a leading provider of facility solutions, is seeking a Pre-Construction Electrical Specialist to join their team.



Overview:

This Pre-Construction Electrical Specialist role will focus on electrical system design, electrical cost estimating, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) design and proposal support. As an integral part of the project development team, you will oversee preconstruction efforts as projects transition from the sales cycle to the operations team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Focus on electrical engineering and estimating, including electrical power distribution, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
  • Review existing drawings of electrical systems for the current project.
  • Perform fieldwork to understand existing electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
  • Apply engineering principles and systems layout to electrical designs.
  • Coordinate with engineering resources and vendors to secure project materials, equipment, and labor.
  • Perform detailed system take-offs using estimating software (Trimble Autobid, Accubid Anywhere).
  • Create and track final estimates for the project and reconcile scope and cost.
  • Provide scope narratives, schedules, and diagrams to support project teams.
  • Collaborate with the proposal development team during the sales cycle and attend sales meetings as needed.
  • Assist in the development of solutions and proposed scopes of work.
  • Provide oversight to project team members as assigned by the Preconstruction Manager.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Science/ Management, or a related field, or 4+ years of experience in the mechanical/ electrical contracting/ estimating field.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
  • Driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • In-depth understanding of electrical systems, including system design and layout.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical/ electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam Revu, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore) and estimating software (e.g., Trimble).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to foster positive working relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate data and identify resolutions.
  • Ability to self-manage and prioritize tasks effectively.

Working Conditions:
  • This position involves both office work and construction site visits.
  • Exposure to varying conditions at job sites, including weather, high noise levels, and mechanical/ electrical systems.
  • Regular travel required to visit job sites and business appointments.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability for frequent standing, walking, and use of hands to handle tools or controls. Ability for occasional lifting of office supplies and equipment.
  • Able to visually inspect mechanical and electrical equipment, subject to safety requirements
