Plant Safety Specialist

We are looking for a dedicated Safety Specialist to join our team at a large distribution center. This role demands an individual with a keen knowledge of OSHA regulations, who enjoys a hands-on approach within the daily plant operations. Our prospective Safety Specialist should thrive in a dynamic environment where they can play a critical role in improving our safety performance and creating a secure workplace.

Salary: $80,000.00 - $87,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and enhance the safety performance of the plant, ensuring all practices comply with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee safety policies and procedures.
  • Analyze safety metrics and compile reports for management review.
  • Conduct training sessions and safety drills for employees.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker's compensation claims.
  • Recommend changes to protect workers, and educate employees on how to prevent health issues through use of safety equipment.
  • Participate in continuing education to update knowledge of health and safety protocols and techniques.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a safety officer or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of legal health and safety guidelines.
  • Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies.
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability.
  • BSc/BA in safety management or relevant field is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a distribution center or manufacturing environment.
  • Professional certification (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is a plus).
  • DOT experience is advantageous.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and possibly safety management software.
  • Hands-on skills with an ability to "roll up your sleeves" and get involved in the plant operations.
  • Adept at conducting training and presentations.
