Plant Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer role focuses on enhancing product quality to meet strict customer standards within the automotive industry. This position involves thorough quality assessments, utilizing advanced quality tools and methodologies, direct customer interaction to resolve complaints, and adherence to TS16949 quality systems. The ideal candidate will ensure that quality processes align with the internal and external requirements to ensure customer satisfaction and continuous improvement of production processes.

Salary: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply core AIAG quality tools such as Control Plan, PFMEA, PPAP, APQP, MSA, SPC to address and resolve quality concerns effectively.
  • Drive the management of both internal and external quality issues through fast-track responses and extensive pareto analysis of defects.
  • Provide exceptional customer support, investigating and acting on customer complaints to uphold company standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by conducting S.P.C. and capability studies to enhance production processes.
  • Ensure compliance and assist with the maintenance of TS-16949 activities critical to business and quality assurances.
  • Oversee customer quality systems and manage quality hold areas effectively to control non-conforming product impacts.
  • Conduct periodic reviews, updating and maintaining the accuracy of required documentation in job books per customer specifications and company standards.
  • Perform duties related to addressing supplier quality issues, supervising vendor quality control processes, and ensuring the certification of measuring equipment.
  • Promote safety by following regulations and strictly enforcing compliance within the team.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (BS or BA) is required.
  • Proven recent experience in the Automotive Industry.
  • Deep knowledge and application experience with TS16949 Quality Systems.
  • Proficient in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively across various departments and with customers.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to manage quality system requirements effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing Techniques to drive process efficiencies and quality enhancements.
  • Technical skills in product development and process control within an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in program launch phases at an automotive manufacturing plant, showcasing capability in project management and system integrations.

Skills:

  • Expertise in using quality problem-solving tools such as 8D and 5Why methodologies.
  • Strong supervisory skills to manage vendor quality control effectively.
  • Capability to conduct and lead quality audits supporting plant functions.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to thoroughly investigate and analyze quality issues leading to actionable improvements.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, crucial for documentation and customer interactions.
