We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Quality Engineer to join our team. In this key role, you will facilitate the enforcement of quality standards and enhancements within our automotive manufacturing operations. As the driving force behind both internal and external quality initiatives, you will utilize advanced quality tools and techniques to ensure our processes and products meet rigorous company and customer specifications. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where proactive problem-solving and quality assurance activities are at the forefront of our operations.
Salary: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Utilize core AIAG quality tools such as Control Plan, PFMEA, PPAP, APQP, MSA, and SPC to analyze and resolve quality concerns.
- Manage both Internal and External quality concerns, including Fast Track Response and pareto analysis of defects.
- Act as a primary contact for customer support and effectively investigate customer complaints to ensure satisfaction and compliance.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using statistical process control (S.P.C.) and capability studies to elevate product quality.
- Engage in activities pertaining to TS-16949 to enhance quality system compliance.
- Oversee customer quality system management and interface, ensuring alignment with quality standards.
- Tackle supplier quality issues and manage the Quality hold area efficiently.
- Ensure creation and maintenance of approved PPAP documentation across all customers.
- Decide the disposition of products in the hold area and organize necessary rework/sorting operations.
- Utilize quality problem-solving techniques like 8D and 5Why to address and resolve issues.
- Randomly audit jobs identified as problematic, focusing on continuous improvement by collaborating with the manufacturing team.
- Perform audits to support various functions within the plant.
- Supervise and manage vendor quality control, ensuring certification of measuring equipment.
- Enforce compliance with safety regulations throughout the plant.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Recent experience in the Automotive industry is essential.
- Profound knowledge of TS16949 Quality Systems.
- Proficient in the use of the APQP system.
- Excellent communications skills, capable of effective presentation and escalation handling.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with lean manufacturing techniques.
- Technical proficiency in product and process areas unique to automotive manufacturing.
- Experience in managing program launches within an automotive manufacturing plant.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Engineering or Quality Management preferred.
- Certifications such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Quality Engineer Certification.
- Previous leadership experience in a quality engineering role.
- Advanced training in quality control systems and tools.
- Project management skills with a record of successful project implementation.
Skills:
- Advanced analytical and statistical skills to understand and troubleshoot quality issues.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to effectively manage team and client relationships.
- Detailed knowledge and application experience of AIAG core tools.
- Capability to conduct and manage quality audits and full system audits.
- Proficiency in IT systems, typically used in quality control environments.
