Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the President for a company that designs and manufacture heavy haul trailers; offering a multitude of specialized configurations.

The Plant / Production Manager position is responsible for overseeing and providing guidance to personnel within fabrication and assembly operations facility. Oversee the duties of the Operational, Fabrication and Assembly Supervisors, General Maintenance, Purchasing, and Quality Control personnel. Ensure the proper level of trained staff, as projected in accordance with the needs of the volume of business, within each area of manufacturing. Communicate staffing needs to HR. Participate with the new hire selection process. Ensure compliance with the onboarding training program and weekly update sessions with new hires. Management level responsibility for all production personnel and the management of payroll labor. Resolve employee conflicts. Partner with the Supervisory and HR personnel to ensure consistent and effective coaching and disciplinary measures. Ensure performance evaluations and pay increases are done in a timely manner. Manage production in process to ensure customer deadlines are met as required. Manage and evaluate machine resources to ensure efficiency in productivity, with minimal downtime. Oversee the workforce scheduling and billable hours in both Fabrication and Assembly departments. Research and recommend innovation. Regulates and approves the purchasing of all goods for the manufacturing processes. Oversee purchasing, coordinating the timely and appropriate delivery of parts, to ensure the production schedule timeframes are met. Conduct daily production meetings. Coordinate engineering design completions with production needs. Responsible for safe work processes within all areas of operations. Ensure all operations meet or exceed OSHA required compliance requirements. Oversee safety training and programs to maintain required certifications for all production personnel. Oversee the weekly toolbox talks, to maintain safety awareness as a priority. Safeguard each employee by maintaining safe production operations and appropriate PPE through the various production functions or processes. Oversee and approve the purchase of all safety protective equipment. Ensure all equipment is safeguarded and labeled appropriately. Champion all repair and service activities. Prepare repair estimates. Manage the repair processes, internally or with partnered vendors. Establish relationships with skilled third-party vendors to aid as necessary for production needs outside of company capacity or timeframes. Provide detailed information to Finance, for the accurate invoicing of all repairs. Responsible to establish processes for all warranty, service billable work done on our trailers. Oversee the Plant and Grounds Maintenance to ensure a safe, productive, and presentable facility. Prepare requests for Capital – building, and equipment. Coordinate equipment and facility repairs and refurbishments, minimizing lost production. Oversee the Quality Control initiatives. Mitigate quality issues. Conduct pre-build meetings for awareness of special job issues and customer requests. Champion process improvement initiatives and innovations. Evaluate equipment and processes, to reduce costs through increased productivity. Research and recommend new methods and/or processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and safety.

Background Required:
  • Experience in management / leadership within a heavy manufacturing environment (5 – 10 years)
  • Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
  • Knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory, and stewardship processes
  • Proven experience in leading safety compliance and engagement
  • Focus on customers' expectations, prevent problems, and strive for continuous improvement
  • Comfortable interacting with all levels from craft to executives
  • Excellent communication, (verbal, written, presentations)
  • Education: High School Diploma
  • Computer literate: Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project)
  • Residence: Carlisle, PA, area (relocation assistant may be considered)
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or Manufacturing
  • Trailer Manufacturing Management background
  • Fabrication background
  • Experience with Process Controls
