Plant Operations Manager

We are seeking a Plant Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our agro-industrial chemical and biofuel processing plant. This role is critical in ensuring that production targets and quality standards are met efficiently and compliantly. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and streamline plant operations, maintenance, and quality control to meet production schedules and standards.
  • Coordinate plant activities through careful planning with department heads to ensure manufacturing objectives are achieved efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Oversee the recruitment, hiring, and training of all plant personnel, maintaining a focus on safety, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Develop and manage programs and policies that aim to create a productive, safe, and motivated workforce.
  • Initiate and implement projects to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, ensure environmental compliance, and enhance safety.
  • Continuously ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Direct a rigorous safety program, maintain and enforce safety standards, and review safety records to uphold the highest levels of safety for all employees.
  • Manage and maintain plant facilities and equipment, and facilitate necessary adjustments or replacements, aiding in spare parts inventory management.
  • Facilitate effective communication across departments to ensure collaborative operations and smooth execution of production plans.
  • Review and evaluate reports from department supervisors, making strategic decisions based on data-driven insights.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage plant maintenance and shutdown operations, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
  • Conduct detailed performance reviews and maintain rigorous oversight and development of supervisory staff.
  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures that ensure high levels of cleanliness and organizational efficiency within the plant.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Plant Manager or a similar leadership role in industrial or manufacturing settings, preferably in chemical or biofuel production.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements within the chemical or biofuel industries.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and manage large teams across different operational sections.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, financial planning, and cost control.
  • Proficient in using modern industrial technology and information systems to streamline plant operations.
  • Excellent organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or Industrial Management.
  • In-depth knowledge of the ethanol production process and applicable technologies.
  • Previous experience in strategic project management and process optimization.
  • Advanced certifications relevant to industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to set clear priorities, delegate, and guide investment in people and systems.
