Plant Manager
The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall feedstock pretreatment process, product quality, facility maintenance, employee safety, and inbound/outbound distribution for the renewable diesel feedstock (i.e., corn oil, soybean oil and rendered fats)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Thorough operational understanding of all pretreatment processes, plant equipment/systems and layout;
• Comprehensive knowledge of process operating parameters and utility infrastructure operations (e.g., boiler, feedstock pretreatment process, water treatment, loading/unloading equipment, etc.);
• Manages the operations of all computerized equipment specific control panels;
• Troubleshoots processing and equipment problems and takes appropriate corrective action;
• Recommends preventative maintenance and/or repair;
• Provide oversight for truck and rail loading and unloading operations;
• Responsible for maintaining the supplies and inventories of raw materials to maximize production levels;
• Record and track product inventory and follow security procedures for finished product inventory;
• Responsible for ensuring that the spare parts inventory is maintained/established to support operations;
• Oversee the unloading of all raw materials and quality checks upon which product was purchased;
• Responsible for quality control of all finished product;
• Reviews performance against operating plans and standards;
• Defines and recommends operational goals by developing specific short-term and long-term plans and programs, together with supporting budget requests and financial estimates;
• Reviews and approves cost control reports, cost estimates, and facilities requirement forecasts;.
• Collaborates with all corporate departments in establishing and carrying out responsibilities;
• Selects and maintains qualified personnel in all plant positions;
• Lead meetings and training sessions regarding production, operations and environmental, health and safety;
• Ensure all employees perform duties in manner consistent with environmental, health and safety policies;
• Oversee "Product Safety Management" program and its updates to remain in total compliance;
• Keeps operational employee’s informed as to plant plans and forecasts;
• Identifies training needs, initiates development of subordinates, and recommends personnel action;
Requirements
• 5+ years’ management experience in a process plant environment, preferably biofuels or oilseed processing;
• Experience working in a small plant environment (i.e. less than 40 people) is a strong plus;
• Experience working with and troubleshooting the following:
rotating equipment / pumps
valves
quality control
utility infrastructure (boilers, cooling tower, air compressors, water treatment, etc.)
• Experience with Process and Equipment Controls – VFDs, computerized plant and equipment controls.
