Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the VP Manufacturing Operations for a privately held ice cream manufacturer, the Plant Manager is responsible for developing and implementing a LEAN operations culture and supporting processes to motivate team to achieve dramatic manufacturing, supply chain and business results. Focus will be on establishing world-class manufacturing (including a robust Preventive Maintenance program), throughput achievement, aggressive cost reduction through productivity improvements, ensure FG inventory matches Demand Plan, and driving OTD to meet customer commitments. Operates in compliance with regulations and the spirit of the Company’s Safety, Health and Environmental practices and philosophy. Has P&L Responsibility for operating budget. Leads a several-hundred person team responsible for Production, Warehouse & Inventory Management and Maintenance. Participates in the development of the Plant annual operating plan, monitor monthly performance against plan and take corrective action as needed. Collaborates cross-functionally with Management, Quality, Supply Chain, Sales and G&A team to support achievement of Plant deliverables.

Background Required:
  • Proven management background in food manufacturing (10+ years, prefer 15)
  • Solid financial and analytical skills; comfortable operating in a data driven environment.
  • Business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging TPS/Lean manufacturing and process improvement in manufacturing and warehouse environments with proven ability to drive and lead change
  • Understands how to implement and leverage PM to drive line OEE
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
  • Knowledge of food regulation standards: GMP’s, SQF, HACCP, FDA, etc.
  • Knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
  • Tech savvy: understands and leverages relevant software tools to drive decision-making
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing operations, engineering or related field
  • Travel: 20%
  • Residence: Lubbock, Texas
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Ice cream, frozen or dairy manufacturing
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma training
  • Greenfield or Brownfield start-up experience
  • Bi-Lingual: English & Spanish
