Responsibilities:
  • Directs and manages staff: selects, hires, trains, coaches, monitors and assures that Plant and Corporate performance goals are met. Implements corporate strategies.
  • Prepares and implements Business Plan; develops operating schedule to meet sales forecast. Works closely with managers to assure all goals are met.
  • Develops and manages budget; monitors expenses; approves all purchase orders.
  • Assures adherence to labor/management agreement; maintains positive labor relations and monitors disciplinary actions. Assures compliance and implements all company and plant policies.
  • Assures adherence to all safety and environmental regulations.
  • Determines staffing levels and directs hiring of salaried and hourly personnel.
  • Maintains total quality management system and plant EHS systems.
  • Determines need for and monitors work of external contractors.
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and application of new technology; prioritizes projects and assigns staff. Follows-up and keeps Corporate advised of project status.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of strategic plans for mill equipment, repairs, upgrades, new installations including parts, materials, special equipment, etc. Estimates and plans capital projects.
  • Provides team leadership, integrating activities of various plant departments.
  • Oversees the planning and implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance practices such as equipment inspection frequencies and new technologies. Assures that preventive and predictive maintenance jobs are performed.
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Plant Operations and Maintenance.
  • Experience in the Pre-Engineered Metal Building Industry required
  • In-depth interpersonal skills: ability to relate to all types of people; demonstrated trust and integrity.
  • In-depth managerial and leadership skills at plant and corporate level.
  • In-depth understanding of customer and market requirements.
  • Broad general knowledge of labor relations and human resources management.
  • Computer skills: word processing, spreadsheets, data analysis and administration; email and internet.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and resilience. Ability to meet deadlines under pressure; demonstrated ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated understanding of OSHA, EPA and total quality management systems.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with others within the company to ensure timely completion of tasks and projects.
  • Written and oral communication skills; demonstrated skills in report writing and presentation skills. Strong listening skills.
  • Demonstrated compliance with good housekeeping and safety practices.
