Plant Maintenance Manager

The Plant Maintenance Manager role at our Tupelo, MS Corrugated Container facility focuses on overseeing the maintenance operations to ensure optimal running of facility equipment and systems. This position emphasizes leadership in continuous improvement initiatives, strategic planning of maintenance activities, and development of safety and efficiency programs to boost productivity and reliability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement both short-term and long-term maintenance strategies that align with our organizational goals and values.
  • Lead the Maintenance Department's safety initiatives and develop a culture of safety-first across the maintenance team.
  • Oversee the creation and execution of an effective plant maintenance program using best industry practices to enhance equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Direct and evaluate maintenance work to ensure the integration of the most effective technologies and up-to-date practices.
  • Analyze and manage department KPIs to gauge efficiency and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Communicate and monitor department performance metrics in safety, environment, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in the development of the maintenance operational and financial plans.
  • Function as a leader within the Plant Leadership Team to ensure alignment on plant-wide goals and collaborative effort towards operational effectiveness.
  • Negotiate with labor union representatives using strategic and mutually beneficial tactics.
  • Champion training programs that ensure maintenance staff has the skills and knowledge to meet department objectives effectively and safely.
  • Motivate and lead a team towards achieving exceptional performance standards in plant maintenance and operations.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • 2-year technical degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of maintenance experience in a managerial or supervisory role within a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications like Excel and Outlook, as well as CMMS systems such as JDE or similar.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a proven record of managing a maintenance team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions quickly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Experience in the corrugated packaging industry is highly preferred.
  • Adept in advanced maintenance management systems and latest industry practices.
  • Experience in negotiating and managing labor union contracts is advantageous.
