Job Description

Our client, located in the Atlanta, GA area, has an immediate opening for a Plant Engineering Director.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide leadership for the preventative maintenance and upkeep of the plants and facilities equipment and required supplies to maximize uptime, minimize costs and meet health and safety regulatory standards.
  • Safety Improvement
  • Long term capacity planning
  • Oversee the validation qualification of new equipment.
  • Oversee the fulfillment of the strategic vision for the Engineering organization to ensure products are aligned with overall business and market strategy.
  • Manage, coach and evaluate the team members.
  • Create and support programs that encourage innovation.
  • Provide leadership for the preventative maintenance and upkeep of the plants and facilities equipment and required supplies to maximize uptime, minimize costs and meet health and safety regulatory standard
  • Provide technical leadership in setting strategy with regard to technical and product structural issues, choice of methodology and standards.
  • Directs department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
  • Confers with Management, Production, and Marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
  • Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.
  • Perform probationary and annual reviews of employees.
  • Responsible for overseeing the design, manufacture, validation and implementation of the tooling and fixtures needed for the inspection and assembly of the product.
  • Maintain and follow proper compliance and quality systems requirements.
  • Lead projects including team members, and be responsible for all meetings, and working with all individuals from supporting departments such as Scheduling and Planning.
  • Oversee the validation qualification of new equipment.
  • Assist with manufacturing to resolve Production issues as required.
  • Responsible for the review of designs to ensure manufacturability and verify costs to meet project requirements.
  • Work closely with HR for the hiring, discipline and retention of the employees.
  • Predictive maintenance programs

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Engineering Degree
  • 5+ years of multi-site plant engineering
  • Six Sigma Black Belt
  • CNC Machining experience
