We are looking for a Plant Controller to work for our client. The ideal candidate aligns with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below.
Position Summary
Our client is hiring a Plant Controller (Hybrid, Harrisonburg, VA) to lead manufacturing finance functions, including cost accounting, standard costing, inventory control, and variance analysis. This role manages plant financial reporting and forecasting, strengthens internal controls, and partners with Operations to drive productivity and margin improvement. Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) is essential.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage monthly close for the plant; prepare accurate financial statements and management reports
- Establish and maintain standard costs, update BOMs/routings, and review overhead/absorption
- Perform variance analysis (material, labor, overhead, mix, scrap) with root-cause actions
- Oversee inventory accounting, cycle counts, and physical inventory; ensure control compliance
- Build annual operating plans and rolling forecasts; track KPIs and operational drivers
- Improve data integrity and reporting within SAP; implement automation where possible
- Partner with production, supply chain, and quality on cost reduction and CI initiatives
- Prepare capital project financials and post‑implementation reviews; support internal/external audits
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance; CPA or CMA preferred
- 7–10+ years of plant or manufacturing accounting experience
- Deep knowledge of cost accounting and inventory valuation in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP required or strongly preferred) and advanced Excel
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence plant leadership
- Detail‑oriented, process‑driven, and comfortable in fast‑paced operations
