Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Finance for a specialized manufacturing company that is a leading service provider of engineered components, products, and solutions for the building and housing industries. Generates $550 million revenues with 2,500 associates in North America. Their vision is to make every home and building in North America better. Plant Controller Responsible for providing financial leadership for a major manufacturing site in South Dakota with 180+ total employees. This position is responsible for managing effective accounting, reporting and costing functions to provide timely and accurate information for financial statement reporting and to assist management in sound decision-making. Major areas of oversight including inventory and cost accounting, budgeting/forecasting, production reporting, FP&A providing direction on improving operational performance, capital asset expenditure processes and monthly financial reporting and performance metrics. Plant Controller will partner with finance and corporate leadership to evaluate and implement appropriate and consistent internal controls. Also manage day-to-day workflow, administrative, & task prioritization with 1 direct report. Travel: 10%.

Background Required:
  • ‘Hands on’ Financial experience with manufacturing organizations (7+ yrs.)
  • ‘Hands On’ Plant Controller experience (4+ yrs.)
  • Staff management and leadership: interviewed, hired, motivated, energized, managed, mentored & developed
  • Provided accurate and timely financial records, on a monthly, quarterly & annual basis, in accordance with GAAP
  • Worked in a manufacturing-oriented ERP environment along with such tools as - Hyperion and HFM
  • Understands how actual financial results compare with budgets and forecasts & recommend corrective actions
  • Maintain effective reports on internal controls over financial reporting & disclosure & safeguard business assets
  • Management of standard costing system
  • Provide direction and guidance related to understanding the costs of manufactured products of multiple types (custom & standard) across several locations and implications to the business
  • Develop, create, and maintain effective financial processes to include month-end closing, forecasting, budgets.
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Access, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Education: BS degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Residence: Sioux Falls SD (Relocation assistance possible)
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Led finance for medium to large plant or business ($100 million)
  • Advanced degree master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or business (MBA) or additional years of experience
