About the Company:
Our client is a well-established and respected heavy civil construction contractor specializing in infrastructure, underground services, and municipal construction projects across Northern Ontario. They are committed to delivering high-quality workmanship while maintaining the highest standards of safety, teamwork, and professionalism on every job site. They are seeking a Pipefitter to join their team.
Responsibilities:
- Perform work in accordance with all organizational, provincial, and federal health and safety regulations and legislation
- Conduct daily site assessments and identify potential hazards before work begins
- Ensure all required tools and equipment are transported to the jobsite and inspected prior to use
- Prepare excavation areas for pipe installation, including slope and elevation determination
- Perform trench excavation using equipment and manual digging methods as required
- Grade and level trench bases using tamping machines and hand tools
- Ensure trenches are excavated according to blueprint specifications, elevations, and depths
- Install pipe accurately and according to project drawings and specifications
- Place barrels, drywells, and related underground infrastructure components
- Connect and seal pipe joints properly and securely
- Bed pipe using required materials and ensure proper compaction
- Backfill trenches upon completion of installations
- Provide general labour support to construction crews as needed
- Assist tradespeople and equipment operators on-site
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe operating condition
- Participate in all phases of construction projects from start to finish
Requirements:
- 2–5 years of experience as a Pipelayer or in underground construction
- Confined Space Certification required
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong understanding of excavation safety and trenching procedures
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
- Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Willingness to travel to various job sites throughout Northern Ontario
