Position Summary

A Rural Health Clinic and Critical Access Hospital, is seeking an MD or DO for a permanent, full-time, full-spectrum, emergency physician opening. This is an opportunity to join a progressive rural health care organization and work with an experienced medical staff consisting of five Medicine Physicians, two Nurse Practitioners, one General Surgeon, and two CRNAs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the BMHD.
  • Provide immediate evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients presenting to the Emergency Department with urgent or emergent medical conditions.
  • Perform stabilization procedures and interventions, including airway management, resuscitation, and trauma care.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and laboratory studies to support clinical decision-making.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, ancillary services, advanced practice providers, consultants, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure safe, coordinated, and effective patient care.
  • Refers patients to specialty providers for consultation and treatments as needed.
  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and computer skills in order to perform their duties.
  • Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
  • Determine the need for hospital admission, observation, transfer, or discharge with appropriate follow-up care and instructions.
  • Document all patient encounters, clinical decisions, and procedures accurately and in a timely manner in the electronic medical record.
  • Participates in quality control protocols and chart review.
  • Is supportive and professional with all staff at all times.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, professional standards, and state and federal regulations.
  • Keeps clear documentation of continuing education hours.
  • Participate in on-call coverage as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

  • Work schedule consisting of 8 shifts of emergency room coverage a month, based on ER needs

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of medical procedures and methods, including general knowledge of medications and drug classifications. Ability to communicate effectively with the healthcare professionals, public, customers, and staff.

  • Licensure as an MD, DO, or NP in the State of Oregon.
  • Current or ability to obtain BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS certification.
  • Attend or complete required annual trainings.
  • Maintain continuing medical education as required by licensure
