Physical Therapist – Acute Care & Swing Bed
Full-Time Inpatient Setting Nonprofit Hospital
We’re looking for a full-time Physical Therapist to join a well-established inpatient rehab team within a nonprofit hospital system. This position includes a mix of acute care and swing bed caseloads, offering exposure to a broad patient population, close collaboration with other therapy disciplines, and the stability of a salaried hospital-based role.
The hospital recently underwent a major renovation, with a new addition completed in the last several years and an updated ICU completed just last year. The facility is modern, high-tech, and designed for smooth transitions of care across the acute and post-acute continuum.
Clinical Setting
-
Patient care will be across Acute Care and Swing Bed units within the hospital
-
Swing bed is a hospital-based post-acute program, where patients receive short-term rehab following acute medical treatment (similar to SNF/subacute, but delivered in a hospital environment)
-
Therapists float between settings and often follow patients from ICU or acute into swing bed
-
Patient population includes: general debility, COPD, CHF, stroke, and post-operative ortho cases
-
ICU is a 6-bed unit, and the therapy team typically sees 2–3 swing bed patients at a time
-
Daily caseload varies from 5–10 patients, depending on the mix of evaluations and treatment sessions
-
Evaluation and treatment sessions typically run 30–45 minutes
-
Standard schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break
-
Weekend coverage is PT-only, based on a 1-in-6 on-call rotation for post-op ortho patients only — most weekends do not require in-person treatment
Therapy Team
-
DOR: 1 full-time Director of Rehab (PT background)
-
PTs: 5 full-time staff (not including DOR)
-
PTAs: 3
-
OTs: 3
-
SLPs: 1 full-time + 1 PRN
-
Team members work collaboratively across settings and cover for one another when needed
-
Strong culture of mentorship, support, and interdisciplinary collaboration
Compensation & Benefits
-
$15,000 sign-on bonus with a 2-year commitment
-
Student loan repayment: $7,500 per year, renewable for up to 7 years following each full year of service
-
CEU reimbursement up to $1,500/year, reviewed case-by-case
-
Licensure fees are reimbursed
-
Relocation assistance available
-
20 days of PTO annually
Productivity Expectations
-
Productivity target is approximately 2 units per hour
-
The focus is on quality care and interdisciplinary teamwork, not high-volume treatment numbers
New grads are welcome to apply. Whether you're early in your career or an experienced therapist seeking a stable hospital-based role, this position offers a chance to build broad clinical experience in a modern facility with strong support and low turnover.
