SURGO is recruiting for a Personal Assistant for HOD: Human Resources to join their experienced HR team in Cape Town. The Personal Assistant to the Head of Department: Human Resources is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative/secretarial support. This dynamic position requires the ability to anticipate needs, think critically, and offer solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

  • Provide sophisticated calendar management for the Head of Human Resources
  • Prioritise inquiries and requests while troubleshooting conflicts
  • Provide high level administrative support to the Head of Human Resources
  • Make judgements and recommendations to ensure smooth day-to-day engagements
  • Act as liaison and provide support to the Head of Human Resources
  • Arrange and handle all logistics for the Head of Human Resources e.g., meetings and events; schedule meetings; draft agendas; etc.
  • Take meeting minutes on behalf of the Head of Human Resources
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the Head of Human Resources functions
  • Work closely with the Head of Human Resources to keep her well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately
  • Answer and respond to inquiries accurately and promptly
  • React with appropriate levels of urgency to situations and event that require quick response or turnaround
  • Maintain a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information and act with excellent judgement
  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Tertiary education in HR or related field required
  • Minimum 3-5 years in PA/Secretarial - administrative or related role
  • Exposure to Contact Centre environment (Advantageous)
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Tools capabilities: Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.
  • Exposure to HR Systems (advantageous)
  • Typing speed (Min. 45 WPM)
  • Fully bilingual in English and Afrikaans (Read, Write, Speak)
  • Own reliable transport with valid drivers license
  • Clear Criminal Record
  • Ability to work remote from home
  • Must be resident in Cape Town
Salary: Market related, based on the level of experience

Working hours: 08h00 - 17h00, Monday to Friday (overtime may be required as per operational need)
