We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurse Manager to lead our team at a prestigious medical facility. This role is crucial in maintaining and enhancing our care standards, ensuring the delivery of top-notch health services to our pediatric patients. The PICU Nurse Manager will oversee the department's operations, manage clinical nursing staff, and ensure that patient care is efficient, safe, and of the highest quality, aligning with our organizational goals and the latest medical standards.
Salary: $160,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the 24-hour operation of the nursing services and patient care, including planning, budgeting and resource allocation.
- Develop and uphold nursing service goals, as well as clinical and service quality standards to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.
- Implement continual improvement strategies for clinical practices, services and operations across the department.
- Create, monitor, and manage the departmental budget, ensuring effective use of resources and alignment with the fiscal directives of the organization.
- Optimize financial performance by implementing cost-reduction strategies and enhancing care quality/service.
- Develop and oversee a skilled and competent nursing staff through selective hiring, comprehensive training, and ongoing staff development.
- Implement and revise departmental policies and procedures to meet regulatory, legal, and clinical quality standards.
- Handle human resource and risk management issues promptly and efficiently, maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.
- Promote an organizational culture of safety, ensuring compliance with safety standards across patient, employee, and department operations.
- Engage in various leadership committees, contributing to strategic planning and policy formulation on regional or national levels.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Minimum five years of clinical nursing experience, with at least three years in management, supervisory, or leadership roles within a healthcare setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required, while a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Active Registered Nurse License in California with a Basic Life Support certification.
- Thorough knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission standards, and other local, state, and federal regulations.
- Proven management and interpersonal skills within a healthcare environment.
- Must be adept at working in a collaborative Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience utilizing electronic medical record systems.
- Advanced education, such as a Master's degree in a relevant field.
- National Certification in Nursing Administration or Pediatric Nursing specialty.
- Minimum of three years of experience in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in a Community level 2 PICU.
