Payroll Specialist
Our client in Vaughan, ON is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage full-cycle, end-to-end Canadian payroll for approximately 250 employees based in Ontario. This is a stand-alone role, working collaboratively with a Senior Payroll Specialist. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of payroll experience and strong working knowledge of Workforce Now (WFN) by ADP. This role requires someone who can independently manage payroll processes, ensure compliance with federal and provincial legislation, and maintain the highest level of accuracy and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:

Process full-cycle, semi-monthly payroll for approximately 250 salaried and hourly employees across Ontario using ADP Workforce Now (WFN).

Ensure payroll is completed accurately and on time, including earnings, deductions, bonuses, and vacation payouts.

Maintain and update employee payroll data, including new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, and compensation changes.

Collaborate with the Senior Payroll Specialist to coordinate and cross-check payroll processing tasks.

Reconcile payroll reports, general ledger entries, and benefits deductions, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.

Ensure payroll compliance with all federal and Ontario employment standards, CRA requirements, and statutory remittances (CPP, EI, EHT, WSIB, etc.).

Prepare and submit year-end documentation including T4s, T4As, and other required tax forms.

Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, benefits, and tax issues in a timely and professional manner.

Support audits and reporting requirements related to payroll and employment compliance.

Stay current on legislative updates and changes impacting Canadian payroll.

Assist in updating payroll procedures, documentation, and system configurations as needed.
Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of hands-on Canadian payroll experience, including Ontario-specific legislation.

Experience in a stand-alone payroll position or similar autonomous role.

Strong knowledge and daily working experience with ADP Workforce Now (WFN) is required.

PCP Certification from the National Payroll Institute (or in progress).

Strong understanding of CRA regulations, ESA, and statutory compliance.

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with strong problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with data imports, reconciliations, and reports.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
