Responsibilities: The Payroll Manager (Workday) will be responsible for the bi-weekly processing of payroll for all employees and will report to the Director of Human Resources. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience processing payroll with Workday and a solid understanding of multi-state payroll laws. This position will work collaboratively with HR and Accounting Team members to foster a positive and engaging employee experience.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Leveraging Workday’s technology, process, and reconcile bi-weekly payroll for a significant number of employees across various locations.
- Ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain detailed and organized payroll records and processing steps.
- Prepare and settle payroll and tax-related documents in compliance with applicable regulations. Process wage garnishments and child support orders.
- Collaborate with Accounting to establish necessary tax and unemployment accounts in different jurisdictions and states. Assist with audits, address tax-related issues, handle ad-hoc requests, and manage earning and deduction codes.
- Responsively address and resolve employee inquiries regarding payroll.
- Maintain 401k records, including updates for new hires, terminations, and demographic changes. Process 401k deposits regularly and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Validate data entry and manage personnel changes within Workday in coordination with HR.
- Conduct audits of employee changes to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
- Manage outside employment verification requests.
- Reconcile, submit, and audit HR-related invoices.
- Process and provide training on expense reports.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and the employee experience.
- Generate reports from Workday as requested.
- Ensure strict compliance with all state and federal payroll processing regulations (941, W-2, year-end, etc.).
- Provide support to the HR Team in various ad hoc duties as required.
Qualifications, Skills & Requirements:
- Extensive experience (7+ years) in multi-state payroll processing, with at least 5 years of experience in Workday payroll processing.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Advanced knowledge of Workday.
- Proficiency in multi-state payroll laws.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.
