Our client is a unique Crown Corporation located in Ottawa’s downtown core. With a workforce of just under 2000 employees, our client is innovative and forward thinking as it relates to project planning and taking on new initiatives. With an eye towards supporting our military and defense, our client specializes in project planning, property management, and environmental services. With an established leadership group and tenured team, our client is looking for some temporary help to support their Director of Finance with some catch up.

The role of the temporary Payroll Coordinator is to support the payroll Team lead and manager in all payroll administration. Responsible for meeting tight deadlines, we are looking for someone who brings an amazing attention to detail to help with payroll verification and reconciliations. With a lot of project work on the go, the payroll team is looking for an extra set of hands and eyes to assist with workflow and ensure all proper documentation is for personnel files. The primary responsibilities will be data entry of internal and external payroll data, ensure cross-provincial legislation is adhered to and in accordance with corporate policy, and act as the point of contact for any payroll, benefits or pension inquiries. Periodically, you will be required to research any payroll discrepancies, pull payroll reports, and work with leaders or stakeholders if any changes should happen. While this opportunity will start as a 4-month contract, for a Payroll Coordinator, there is a good opportunity for an extension or full time work. Ability to communicate in English & French is important to be able to respond to employees across the country.

The Ideal Candidate bring 3+ years of payroll experience across multiple provinces. You have working for a larger organization and have been part of a larger payroll team. As this role will start on contract, you must be available immediately. Proven experience working within the payroll modules of an ERP would be highly desirable, and JDE experience preferred. Ability to work in both English & French will be require to be able to collaborate with employees across the country. Strong attention to detail, past experience meeting tight deadlines and proficiency in payroll processing is needed.
