PAYROLL ANALYST - Multi-State
This is a full time / direct hire role based in Pittsburgh
Hybrid Schedule Includes 3 Days On-Site and 2 Days Remote
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with HR and process multi-state payrolls accurately and on time, including validation of timekeeping data and payroll changes (new hires, terminations, promotions).
- Ensure accurate calculation and remittance of multi-state payroll taxes, deductions, and benefits.
- Maintain complete, confidential payroll records and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports and data feeds to internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, wage-and-hour requirements, and firm policies.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, including multi-state tax issues, and respond to employee payroll inquiries.
- Partner with internal teams to resolve payroll and tax reporting issues and ensure accurate data exchange.
- Support internal and external audits, year-end processing, and W-2 preparation.
- Assist with payroll system administration, testing, and process improvements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of payroll processing experience, including hands-on multi-state payroll tax administration; professional services experience preferred.
- Proficiency with large outsourced HRIS / automated payroll systems; and working through communications with provider for system changes, modifications and support to open tickets.
- Strong working knowledge of multi-state payroll tax regulations, filings, reconciliations, and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research and resolve complex payroll tax issues.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet regulatory and firm deadlines with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
