About Our Client
Our client who is a well established, well recognized company is seeking a talented Payroll & Benefits Supervisor to join their high performing payroll team.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing, providing guidance and motivation to the overall team
- Support the Senior Manager, Payroll and Benefits Admin in the collaboration with other functional areas, and external parties regarding regular and ad-hoc activities such as payroll processing, benefits administration, processing of new hires and terminations, year end reconciliations, and projects
- Monitor individuals and team’s workload and keep direct Manager informed of risks. Provide recommendations to address such risks
- Manage the onboarding and training of new team members
- Improve and enhance operational effectiveness and productivity, drive change and identify opportunities for sustainable improvements
- Implement appropriate controls to safeguard assets and mitigate risks
- Manage the delivery of shared services to ensure the timely and accurate processing of payroll data for five payrolls that support the Canadian businesses
- Ensure the audit of payroll outputs is performed in a timely and accurate manner by the team
- Provide backup support to ensure interfaces between internal and external systems are completed successfully
- Manage and maintain the accuracy and integrity of the benefits feed to third party administrator
- Manage all activities related to benefits admin that are not handled by the third party administrator
- Liaise with the company’s benefits providers in order to validate policies and coverage
- Collaborate with HR departments to ensure strategic initiatives are supported for changes in external service providers, policies and coverage
- Provide customer service and support on a timely basis to all Canadian Staples businesses, and all associates as required
- Handle all escalated calls and inquiries from associates
- Support projects that impact payroll and benefits admin, including resource planning, requirements gathering, user acceptance testing, etc.
Qualifications:
- Post secondary education with a focus on payroll and benefits administration or equivalent work experience
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM)
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce and Kronos Dimensions are definite assets
- 4-6 years of management experience with a payroll system supporting multiple payrolls, for multiple business units and companies, using multiple systems, with multiple compensation plans and policies across all provinces in Canada
- Minimum of 3 years of benefits administration experience working with benefits providers and an online benefits tool (enrollment and product system)
- Minimum of 4 years of management experience working with time and attendance
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of provincial and federal payroll legislation
- Strong knowledge and understanding of benefit programs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, working and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Able to handle tight timelines, high volumes and competing priorities
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality of all information
- Experience in a role that provides shared services
