Summary
The Parts Supervisor is responsible for the smooth operation of a Parts Department, assisting the Parts Manager and potentially deputizing during absences. They manage inventory, ensure efficient workflows, and supervise staff to meet departmental goals. Key responsibilities include ordering, receiving, and stocking parts, as well as providing customer service.
Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
• Forecasting parts needs and ordering to maintain optimal stock levels.
• Monitoring current parts inventory and ensuring accurate records.
• Receiving, placing in inventory, and properly labeling incoming parts.
Customer Service:
• Assisting customers in locating and purchasing correct parts.
• Overseeing special orders and ensuring timely fulfillment.
Supervision and Staff Management:
• Supervising and training parts department staff.
• Delegating tasks and ensuring efficient workflows.
Operational Efficiency:
• Managing parts stock levels and ensuring daily orders are fulfilled.
• Collaborating with service managers to ensure all necessary parts are available for repairs.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
Financial Management:
• Participating in budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Pricing parts to maintain profitability.
Other Responsibilities:
• May include order picking, stock checking, and pre-picking parts for workshop job cards.
• Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
• May be involved in department reviews and management.
Required Education and Training
• Post-secondary certificate or degree in automotive technology, business administration, or a related field.
• A valid driver’s license.
