A well-established and consistently high-performing Chevrolet dealership in the Southeast is seeking a seasoned Parts Manager to lead its large, high-volume parts department as the store transitions into a new, expanded, state-of-the-art facility.
This is a critical leadership position within a stable, privately held dealer group with a strong General Manager in place. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing General Motors parts departments in high-volume environments.
The parts department plays a vital role in supporting an exceptionally busy service department, so strong collaboration and communication with service leadership is essential. The position requires a hands-on leader who excels in inventory management, team leadership, and parts sales performance — particularly within the GM ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management: Oversee all procurement, stocking, and tracking of GM parts and accessories. Maintain optimal stock levels while minimizing obsolescence and overstock.
- Supplier Relations: Maintain strong vendor relationships; negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to ensure high-quality parts availability.
- Parts Sales: Drive internal, retail, and wholesale parts sales. Provide accurate availability and pricing information.
- Customer Service: Ensure excellent customer service for both internal and external clients. Manage returns, concerns, and special requests efficiently.
- Team Leadership: Manage and develop a large parts staff, including counter personnel and drivers. Provide training, assign duties, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Pricing & Profitability: Establish competitive and profitable pricing strategies. Monitor margins, analyze trends, and make adjustments as necessary.
- Compliance & Controls: Implement cycle counts, inventory audits, and loss prevention practices. Ensure compliance with GM and dealership policies.
- Sourcing: Locate and acquire specialty or hard-to-find GM parts as needed.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage department budget, including expense control and profitability analysis.
- Reporting: Prepare and deliver regular reports on parts department performance, inventory turnover, and financial metrics.
- Technology Utilization: Leverage DMS and OEM platforms to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work closely with the Service, Collision, and Sales departments to align goals and ensure smooth operation.
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven success as a Parts Manager in a high-volume General Motors dealership
- Strong background in inventory and team management
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in dealership management systems (GM GlobalConnect, etc.)
- Ability to lead a large, diverse parts team in a fast-paced environment
- Committed to operational excellence and long-term departmental growth
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive compensation package in the $175,000 range for qualified candidates
- Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and PTO
- Long-term growth opportunity within a stable dealership group
This is a rare opportunity to take the lead in a flagship parts operation during a major facility upgrade — ideal for a proven GM Parts Manager ready to make a lasting impact.
