Packaging Sales Account Executive

Remote - preference for candidates based in KS, MO, OK, IL, IN, MI, or OH

Blue Signal has partnered with a fast-growing manufacturer of custom plastic packaging solutions to hire a Packaging Sales Account Executive for its high-priority Midwest territory. Backed by advanced engineering resources and lean, domestic production, our client empowers major CPG, food, and industrial brands to solve complex packaging challenges—quickly and at scale. In this hunter-style role you will capture new business, deepen strategic relationships, and serve as the voice of the customer for a plant that thrives on innovation and speed to market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own a multi-state territory, building a balanced pipeline of prospects and key accounts across Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.
  • Strategically target brand owners, contract packagers, and OEMs to uncover opportunities for custom thermoplastic and sustainable packaging programs.
  • Lead consultative sales cycles - mapping stakeholders, quantifying cost-of-ownership savings, and aligning internal engineering, quality, and operations resources to close deals.
  • Conduct on-site plant walk-throughs, virtual design reviews, and line trials to diagnose pain points and position value-added solutions.
  • Champion account retention and growth by delivering proactive service, quarterly business reviews, and new-product road-mapping.
  • Represent the company at industry trade shows and regional events; ~25 percent travel expected.
  • Maintain accurate forecasts and contact data in CRM; leverage reporting to drive territory strategy and product launch priorities.

Ideal Candidate

  • 3+ years of B2B sales success in packaging, plastics, industrial consumables, or related manufacturing sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to win new logos and manage complex projects across multi-site customer organizations.
  • Working knowledge of processes such as extrusion, injection-molding, or thermoforming and the cost drivers behind each.
  • Comfortable operating autonomously in a remote setting while collaborating daily with plant resources and executive leadership.
  • Strong business acumen - able to build ROI cases, negotiate multiyear contracts, and communicate technical concepts to non-engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science, Engineering, Business, or similar discipline.
  • Experience with Salesforce, HubSpot, or comparable CRM platform.
  • Existing network within regional CPG, food & beverage, or industrial markets.
