This leadership role is pivotal in defining creative strategies, leading packaging design, and elevating the visual identity of for major grocery store brand. You’ll bring a deep understanding of consumer packaged goods, marketplace trends, and consumer insights to ensure our brands resonate with customers, strengthen equity, and boost sales.

As the creative leader, you’ll cultivate a culture of innovation, guide a team of design professionals, and partner with external agencies to deliver bold and best-in-class design solutions. You’ll also lead efforts to bring consistency and discipline to the design process, from ideation to execution, print production, and asset management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive visual identity strategies for brand expression.
  • Support innovation and base business initiatives, including visual territory exploration, naming, and design research/testing.
  • Provide trend analysis and competitive insights to inform future brand strategies.
  • Create annual plans and budgets for the design function, aligned with business objectives.
  • Oversee design project methodologies, from creative brief development to research testing.
  • Provide strategic input on design development, pushing for innovative and impactful ideas.
  • Build and maintain relationships with top agency talent to enhance creative outputs.
  • Oversee pre-press processes to ensure flawless execution.
  • Mentor and develop a team of design professionals, fostering growth and high performance.
  • Manage team priorities and resources effectively.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration and process improvements.
  • Stay informed on emerging design and print technologies for potential integration.
  • Enforce consistent protocols for design and asset management.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of brand design experience with leadership responsibilities (CPG experience a plus).
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in brand and design strategy across diverse markets.
  • Exceptional storytelling skills and design sensibilities.
  • Experience influencing senior management and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in design principles, pre-press processes, and packaging regulations.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and solution-oriented approach.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
