We have been asked to exclusively assist an established agricultural equipment and parts manufacturer to find 'the' Purchaser/Supply Chain Manager for their highly successful and established custom manufacturing/fabrication shop located in beautiful southwest Saskatchewan. Reporting directly to the GM, you will oversee all Supply Chain initiatives, including overseeing shipping, receiving, and material handling responsibilities for the organization. You will work, primarily, within a clean and pleasant office environment along with regular exposure to an active shop floor, physical storage locations, as well as with/around moving machinery.

Their established product mix means they have predictable, repeatable orders (mid-volume run/lower product mix), along with periodic specialty orders with shorter lead times (low volume run/high product mix). Your skills are required to ensure materials are available and that their supply processes are established and maintained with strict cost-effective strategies!

Your responsibilities in this role will include:
  • Planning, organizing, directing, managing, and evaluating the material management activities
  • Conduct material management related to inventory management and purchasing, production management, and warehousing planning functions
  • Develop and communicate associated policies and procedures
  • Regularly analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability
  • Review material management operations and develop key performance indicators (KPI) to measure its effectiveness
  • Regularly work with high regard for safety - improving safety procedures; investigating root causes and determine improvements
  • Maintain files within their material handling software programs as well as associated paperwork, pick-notes and identifiers
  • Coach, train, manage, delegate, and appraise the performance of associated department personnel
To ensure the highest probability of success in this position, the following requirements have been identified:
  • 2+ years' experience in a supervisory or management level position
  • 5+ years' experience working within a materials management/warehouse/supply chain environment
  • A mechanical aptitude to comprehend materials required from design to end-product (preferred)
  • Demonstrated skills in coaching and training; demonstrate successful leadership skills
  • Ability to effectively delegate tasks and manage priorities; ensure the timely and accurate completion of assignments
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision; take the initiative to get tasks done
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Accurate, detail-oriented focus supported by strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN)
Soft-skilled generally required for a Materials Supervisor/Warehouse Manager with this client include:
