Position Summary:

Provides hematologic and oncologic health care treatments for individuals presenting for care to Medical Center's Cancer Treatment Center commensurate with training and in accordance with the general policies and standards of practice as defined by our facility and departmental policies, medical staffing by-laws, and regulations as defined by Federal, State, and local government requirements in compliance with Medicare/Medi-Cal/CMS requirements of participation, and will be compliant with EMTALA. Will deliver care appropriate for an outpatient, cancer center with a multicultural patient population. Will elicit detailed patient histories and conduct complete advanced practice provider examinations, providing documentation of patient assessment and treatment to support care provided/diagnosis identified. Reaches timely diagnosis, orders appropriate testing for patient care needs, orders or provides direct patient care for patient specific needs, defines and discusses plan of care for patient including counseling of patient and family on health disease, providing appropriate discharge documentation, educational materials, prescriptions, and referrals for continuity of care.

Position Qualifications:

    Education/License/Certification:
    • Must have passed the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE) and hold an active and unrestricted license as a Physician Assistant from the California Physician Assistant Board.
    • Out of state candidates with a temporary license as a Physician Assistant will be considered if all other required qualifications are met.
    • Must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care.
    • ACLS/PALS is preferred.
    • DEA number and other documentation required for credentialing through medical staff services.
    Experience/Skills:
    • must have completed a Physician Assistant training program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) in accordance with California's Physician Assistant Board is required.
    • Master's Degree is preferred
    • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
    • Experience PA preferred, prior oncology experienced preferred.
