Outside Sales Representative

OUTSIDE SALES REPRESENTATIVE (Heavy Equip. Industry)
MONTGOMERY, AL

The Outside Sales Rep is responsible for managing a sales territory to achieve sales goals and strategic objectives by building new client relationships and closing sales to maximize
profitability. This position directly reports to the Sales Manager.

Compensation and Benefits: The compensation package for this position consists of a competitive base salary plus a volume/profit-based incentive plan, vehicle allowance, paid vacation and holidays, expense account reimbursement, matching IRA plan, health, dental, and other insurance offerings.

Key Responsibility:
• Generate and build strong and lasting business relationships with prospective and existing customers
• Resolve basic customer product and technical problems
• Forecast sales and communicate with operations to ensure availability of inventory
• Gather information, identify prospects, and understand the competitive landscape
• Follow, track, and understand national and local economic trends and developments that impact the local market
• Be involved in trade associations, area chambers, etc
• Answer customer questions regarding start-up / operational features
• Work with customers in assigned territory to promote sales and dealer services
• Communicate and work closely with Sales, Parts, Service and Product Sales & Support Representatives (PSSR’s) to ensure customer satisfaction
• Attend training and meetings as required to stay current with new equipment products
• Successfully complete any formalized training curriculum
• Perform monthly inspections of equipment on rent
• Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Valid Drivers License
• Construction Equipment and related products experience education, skill, and/or experience requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred with related experience in construction industry
• High proficiency in customer relationship skills.
• Organization and communication skills must be highly developed.
• Computer skills need to be broad based.
• Must be able to travel and stay overnight as required.
• Must be available 24/7 for customer assistance calls.

Language Skills
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Mathematical Skills
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, statistics, and geometry.

Reasoning Ability
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
