Lead Service Excellence with a Legendary Marine Brand
Based in RI along the scenic shores of Narragansett Bay, this role offers the chance to combine hands-on leadership with a truly exceptional waterfront setting.
As our Outboard Department Manager, you’ll take the helm of a high-performing service team, ensuring every vessel meets the exacting standards Hinckley owners expect.
What You’ll Do
Lead & Inspire a High-Performing Team
- Guide, coach, and support a team of skilled marine technicians
- Drive performance by setting clear expectations for quality, efficiency, and safety
- Mentor developing technicians and elevate team expertise
- Step in as needed to keep operations running smoothly
- Build trust with customers through clear, proactive communication
Deliver Expert-Level Technical Service
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues
- Perform maintenance, repowers, and installations on outboard and inboard systems
- Conduct sea trials and ensure vessels are fully water-ready
- Approach every challenge with a solutions-first mindset
Work with Industry-Leading Technology
- Service leading brands including Mercury, Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha
- Utilize advanced diagnostic systems and OEM tools
- Stay current with certifications and evolving marine technologies
Champion Safety & Operational Excellence
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-first work environment
- Ensure compliance with all company, manufacturer, and regulatory standards
What You Bring
Experience & Expertise
- 5+ years of marine engine repair and diagnostic experience
- Strong capabilities in both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
Certifications & Credentials
- Valid driver’s license (required)
- OEM certifications (preferred)
- Boating experience or license (a plus)
Leadership & Professional Skills
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality
- Effective at managing time, priorities, and team performance
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable with physically active work environments
