Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations of an integrated logistics solutions company specializing in flatbed, oversize and super loads in the United States and Canada.
The Operations Manager is responsible for building an Operations team of qualified personnel while maintaining established company goals to operate in a cost-effective manner; Development, improvement, and motivation of an over dimensional and flatbed trucking division; Coach/mentor employees and drivers through effective problem solving, relationship building and motivation to achieve departmental goals while promoting a team environment; Create alliances with outside carriers to assist with overflow of loads; Manage all types of oversize loads including super loads; Manage the establishment and expansion of a flatbed trucking division; Manage customer requirements as necessary; Manage asset utilization through maintaining and/or producing reports that are vital to make operational decisions; Provide accurate operational information for Customer Sales and Business Planning; Provide feedback to the organization on market conditions, competitive activities and service enhancement activities; Review costs associated with divisional operations in order to improve or control and provide appropriate reporting; Assist with developing sustainable over-dimensional rates that are both consistent with our corporate goals and meet our operational needs; Ensures all aspects of permit ordering/planning/communication are effectively managed, including height surveys, police services, escort drivers, and over-width and overweight permits; Ensure there is efficient equipment utilization to reduce empty miles and review on-time performance.

Background Required:
  • Asset Based Flatbed / Heavy Haul / Oversize and Super Loads Trucking Operations (10 years minimum)
  • Federal Compliance Knowledge (DOT, FMCSA, HOS, e-logs)
  • P&L management and budget building
  • Sales and Business Development acumen
  • Load optimization and lane management
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Industry Related Software (i.e. McLeod, TMW)
  • Residence: Houston, TX
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Knowledge of the inland waterway systems regarding barge applications
  • Knowledge of rail systems in the geographical area
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree
