Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the VP Operations for an award winning global logistics organization with 30+ years’ experience delivering quality logistics services to clients worldwide. Our client has expanded throughout the US to 19 offices with over 100 global affiliate partners.

The Operations Manager is accountable for the day-to-day coordination, execution and tracking of all import, export and domestic transport shipments within our client’s operations department. Will be responsible for meeting KPIs and financial goals for the department and will make business decisions regarding choice of vendor, invoice amount and profit margin. Additionally, will hire, on-board and train new team members and will develop and implement opportunities for team growth. The goal of the position is to ensure the highest-level customer service, financial performance, process efficiency, industry compliance and to inspire team growth!

Background Required:
  • Freight forwarding operations (5+ years)
  • Extensive knowledge multimodal international logistics (air, ocean, import, export)
  • Staff management, training & development
  • P&L management including budgeting, forecasting & reporting
  • Negotiations with trucking companies, carriers, oversea partners
  • Relationship building skills with customers, vendors and co-workers
  • Knowledge of international regulations & compliance procedures for air/ocean freight
  • Established standard operating procedures & metrics
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook
  • Residence: Elkridge, MD (relocation assistance or hybrid work schedule may be an option)
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • In-depth knowledge of: FMC, IMCO, ITAR, TSA, C-TPAT, HAZMAT, US Customs Border Protection
  • Dangerous goods certified
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain
